Scope:

The StenaLine Superferry “Adventurer” was upgraded with a new HVAC Control system, Seawater pump Control system and Engine room pressure and temperature control system. A new decentralized PLC system was installed, integrating all the logic. The HVAC system is now regulating from air quality and temperature setpoints. The Engine water cooling and engine room air pressure and temperature is all controlled by demand from the various engine processes. Two redundant ViewPort stations were installed(Control room and bridge), providing insight into the various systems. All the PLCs were connected by a new ethernet network, also installed by us. This job was motivated by energy saving efforts.

Project Description:

The Stena Scandinavica is one of the biggest ships in the fleet. Stenaline is continuously improving the fuel efficiency and reducing the emissions from its fleet. In this process we were awarded a project to implement demand control for the engine air supply. The system we installed monitors and controls the pressure in the engine room within a few pascals compared to the outside. In this way, the air supply uses the minimal amount of power. The installation was carried out during ship’s normal operation.
